AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF TRAUMA by Peter A Levine

by: Peter A Levine

Peter Levine is one of the most interesting writers in the alternative field and his book Waking the Tiger genuinely changed the world when it comes to Somatic Experiencing and understanding how the body is wounded by trauma and abuse. This is probably the closest we will get to an autobiography from him, as he outlines the main events of his life and outlines how the trauma he has experienced has given him a better understanding of what other people have been through. It’s very anecdotal and doesn’t really tell a “beginning to end” story but it’s a great tool for understanding our own wounds. It would make a good gateway into some of his more technical titles. How pain is remembered in the body is one of the most important ways into making our own lives less difficult and painful. The book includes endorsements from Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, and Alanis Morissette.
