With its vast depths of wisdom, The Gospel of Thomas is one of the earliest texts containing the teachings of Jesus. It is attributed to Didymos Judas Thomas, a member of Jesus's inner circle who received his deeper teachings. The names Didymos and Thomas both mean ‘Twin’, and the key to understanding this gospel is the awareness that deep within us dwells the ‘Twin’ of Jesus, and it is this ‘Twin’ to whom we are supposed to give space and life if we are to fulfil our destiny as human beings. Many questions are asked in The Gospel of Thomas, and most often, Jesus’ answers throw us back on ourselves, helping us on our inner quest to discover the ‘Twin’ within, and learn that we truly are the child of God, just like Jesus. At the end of the gospel, Jesus says, ‘Whoever drinks from my mouth will become as I am, and I will become that person, and the mysteries will be revealed to him.’
