Billups is an Interface Therapist and includes case studies from her clients throughout the book to demonstrate core emotional issues that pets can face, often as a reflection of our own wounds, both physical and emotional. She outlines how readers can help their animals heal from these issues and by doing so, heal themselves as well. Through her love of animals, Billups has been able to unearth and recover from traumas of her own past and put herself on the path she believes her pets have helped guide her to.
