The gut and the digestive system in general have become a popular subject in recent years and Cygnus has been on the lookout for a good book on how to apply sound principles to daily living, especially cooking and eating. And this is one we like. The author has degrees in human nutrition and herbal medicine and has also worked as a chef. It’s a chunky but colourful hardback full of simple, not always vegetarian recipes. The first half of the book gives all the facts and tips about digestive issues, and the second half has the recipes, themed according to the particular challenge you might be facing. They include tuna steak with herbed bean salad; chicken, red pepper and olive tray bake; and aubergine layer bake. Every recipe is simple and quick to prepare, and uses easy-to-find ingredients.
