'A seemingly odd choice for an inspirational book - but it is one which helped me to think ‘out of the box’ creatively, and to give me the confidence to draw. Once I started doing this, I could access the unconscious processes so much more easily - and to wonderful effect. Whenever I get stuck with my problem solving, I go back to its words about seeing shapes rather than identifying them as faces or a bridge, and my thinking starts to flow. My drawing might not be brilliant, but my thinking is more so because of this book. My advice to anyone who is stuck creatively is to read this book and just do it. Whatever the ‘it’ might be for you.' Ursula James
If you would love to draw well but think you have no talent, this book will unlock the artist within you and open up a new world of creative enjoyment. Betty Edwards shows that you only have to tune in to the creative, intuitive and artistic side of the brain - the right side - and you will be able to draw accurate and imaginative portraits, landscapes, still lifes... By setting you simple tasks which only the right side of the brain can perform, Betty Edwards heightens your awareness of shape, colour and form, makes you see more clearly and intuitively and, within a remarkably short time, gives you the pleasure and satisfaction of being a competent artist. This new edition of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain has been dramatically revised and updated, with more than 50 per cent new material.
