SECRET LANGUAGE OF THE RENAISSANCE by Richard Stemp

by: Richard Stemp

This full-colour, large-format book guides us through the classics of Renaissance art discussing the more subtle and implied aspects of the chosen paintings, sculptures and buildings. Aspects analyzed include sacred geometry, men and angels and light and shade; the works of art studied include Boticelli’s Birth of Venus, Michelangelo’s David and the Palazzo Medici. Many of the works – usually to be found in Italy or London – will inspire you to go and visit them and the author’s words give you the tools to understand these enigmatic images a bit better. Anyway, the colour photos – including close-up details – are beautiful and more than enough to keep you occupied until you see the works in the flesh.
