WISDOM OF KING SOLOMON by Haim Shapira

Alain de Botton wrote a book called How Proust Can Change Your Life and Haim Shapira is aiming to do the same with King Solomon. The Bible book Ecclesiastes is attributed to him and it contains many now legendary aphorisms like “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind”. Shapira applies this wisdom to everyday life, and brings into his account philosophy, literature and music. He makes reference to, amongst others, Simone Weil, Tolstoy and Kierkegaard, and the book is fun, stimulating and extremely wise.
