It’s good to have a new book about the great Indian guru and teacher Ramana Maharshi, who lived and gave darshan in Tamil Nadu from 1879 until 1950. Here Edwin Faust gives us a commentary on Ramana’s Sat Darshanam, which consists of 42 short verses. It’s not academic or obscure and it shows us that, if we become the hero of our own story, we will not need anyone else’s approval or endorsement to feel content and fulfilled. It also serves as an entry point into the teachings of Vedanta, which seem especially important in these times. There is so much to learn and be inspired by in Ramana’s teachings and this is a great place to start. The chapters are short and the explanations and commentary is concise. Much of his teaching was done through silence so this text is especially valuable.
