This isn’t a book about being a witch – rather it’s a set of home remedies and recipes and a compendium of all sorts of homespun lore. The authors are a mother and daughter team who lived holistically in a 1770 Connecticut farmhouse. Inspired partly by their surroundings they founded Grounded Goodwife, a site full of ideas for herbal infusions, fermentation and natural body care, among many other things. It’s American but I couldn’t see anything really that wasn’t compatible with living in Europe and using European ingredients. Ultimately it’s a fun and nurturing collection of stories and remedies that will inspire the reader to make the most of nature’s gifts, from kefir to kimchi and from herbal shampoo to sleep pillows. It’s not illustrated.
