SOUL by Lara van Zuydam

by: Lara van Zuydam

This is a nicely old-fashioned title written with profoundly contemporary awareness; serious but not heavy. The author is clearly well-versed in the main esoteric authorities and she makes lots of references to Alice Bailey, which to me is always a good sign. She does a good job of introducing the soul, from describing what it is to why it is currently housed in a human body, and explains the purpose of incarnation in a challenging world. Why then does it happen? She also tackles an issue which has always foxed me: how does “soul” relate to “spirit”? What are all our spiritual aspects? She manages to cover a lot of the big subjects like reincarnation and death and she’s not afraid to be critical of certain new age tendencies, towards angels for example. She is very clear about us having to do our groundwork.
